The Inuyama Ninjutsu Dojo near Inuyama Castle in Nagoya is highly recommended! The ninja guys there are hilarious and their talk is great.
Shuriken throwing costs 400 yen for 10 throws. There’s a target on the wall, and you throw shuriken at it like a batting center. Adults use real metal shuriken, while small children get rubber ones. If you score over 70 points, you can leave your name on the wall.
It looks easy, but when you actually try it, it’s surprisingly difficult. I hit the target once and thought, “I’ve got this!” But after that… nothing. If you use too much force, it doesn’t work. It really made me realize that a calm mind is important. I thought getting 70 points would be easy, but I couldn’t even get close. So frustrating!
The staff are super fun, and besides shuriken throwing they also show some ninja tricks that feel almost like magic. Kids love it, but honestly adults will have just as much fun. The entertainment skills of these guys are amazing.
The place is a little hard to find, but that almost feels like part of the ninja spirit. “If you can’t find it, maybe you shouldn’t go. It’s only valuable if you search for it seriously.” That’s the vibe (haha).
Even if you’re not a ninja fan, it’s a really fun experience. If you visit Inuyama, definitely stop by.
