Shibuya Scramble Crossing on a Rainy Night is a Cyberpunk

Shibuya Scramble Crossing

Shibuya Scramble Crossing is one of the most famous intersections in the world, located right in front of Shibuya Station in Tokyo. When the traffic lights turn red in every direction, hundreds of people cross the street all at once — creating a unique and fascinating scene that symbolizes the energy of modern Tokyo.

It’s surrounded by giant LED billboards, shops, and cafés, making it one of the most photogenic spots in Japan, especially at night or on rainy days when the neon lights reflect beautifully on the wet pavement.

Walking through Shibuya Scramble Crossing, I noticed there are now more foreign tourists than Japanese visitors. Everyone is taking photos and videos — capturing the chaos and beauty of one of Tokyo’s most iconic spots. It reminded me of my first trip to Tokyo, when I couldn’t stop staring at the crowd moving in all directions.

Shibuya’s neon-lit streets at night look like scenes from The Matrix

Recently, I read an article claiming that Shibuya’s neon-lit streets at night look like scenes from The Matrix. Intrigued, I checked Reddit and found countless cyberpunk-style photos of Shibuya shared by photographers from all over the world.

I had never thought of Shibuya that way before. So I decided to take a walk through the city at night, camera in hand, and see if I could capture that same futuristic, sci-fi atmosphere.

After editing my photos, they really did look like cyberpunk Tokyo. 😆 The mix of glowing billboards, reflections on wet pavement, and the ever-moving crowd created a perfect cinematic vibe.

When you visit Tokyo, don’t forget to stop by Shibuya and take some cool photos!
